She has been seen Off-Broadway and has appeared in leading roles at major regional theatres throughout the country. Denise trained in London with the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts, William Esper in NYC, and the late Milton Katselas’s Master Class in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College with a BA in Theatre Arts.
Her approach to teaching acting is both eclectic and “wholistic”, drawing from the wide range of her training and her professional experience. For the teen and adult classes, acting technique is integrated along with an emphasis on voice and physical expression. Students learn to create characters, be fully alive in the moment, assess material and make bold and vibrant choices. The belief that we all have incredible imaginations upon which to draw from inspires her students to take creative risks with courage and realize there are limitless possibilities. Denise uses a balance of scene study with age-appropriate material, monologues, improvisational exercises and theatre games. Yoga stretches and meditation techniques are also used in the warm-ups. Most importantly, it is the love of theatre, the joy of creativity, and following one's passions that leads the students to their sense of fulfillment and confidence.
